The last basic and foundational fact about God that I will share in this segment is that He not only lives around us, but He lives inside us. Foreign concept? Maybe, but I didn’t come up with it, He did. I remember the first time I heard about the notion of Christ in me, I was in a Christian counseling class. It didn’t sound completely unfamiliar, but then on the other hand it did. Yet, I was reminded that when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior at the age of eleven in the little Baptist church in Kingston, Jamaica, I had prayed a prayer and was told that Jesus came to live in my heart. But I’d always thought that the whole Jesus living in my heart was a figurative concept. Well apparently not, I was to learn as an adult who was over forty. I realized that I hadn’t believed this all my life up to that time because when I referred to God, I had always pointed upward. Not to say that there is anything wrong with that, because He is there as well, being God of the heavens, earth and sky. However, I began to realize more and more that the idea that Jesus in the form of the Holy Spirit living inside of me is actually comforting and intimate, just where I need Him.
Do you believe this?
