Ellie Bates, LCSW
Ellie Bates is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), practicing individual and group therapy. She started her career working in addiction and recovery, which still shapes the way she practices therapy to this day. Her goal is to create a space where clients can show up as they are and feel understood.
Ellie’s approach is person-centered and strengths-based. She is collaborative and builds on clients’ existing strengths, finding ways to move forward that feel realistic and sustainable. She draws from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing and other therapies.
In her work with clients, Ellie focuses on building coping skills, increasing self-awareness, improving relationships, and of course, making space for some lightheartedness and humor along the way. If it is meaningful to the client, Ellie also incorporates a faith based perspective into her work. As a believer in Jesus, she is happy to support integrating faith into her sessions in a way that feels supportive and aligned with her clients’ values.
Ellie is a native Austinite who graduated from UT (hook ’em) and is a proud Longhorn fan. Outside of therapy, you’ll usually find her practicing yoga, running, or hanging out with her pet bunny, Mr. Pickles! |
